We help Tennesseans overcome barriers to healthcare via our statewide, toll-free Healthline: 1-800-269-4038.
- More than fifty staff members help Tennesseans who are facing barriers receive healthcare
- Our core program, TennCare Consumer Advocacy, is a 16-year-old statewide service providing information and case management by phone and through outreach activities
- We served more than 70,000 adults and children in 2009 through:
- case management and monitoring;
- bilingual assistance and medical interpretation with thirteen in-house language capabilities;
- information and referral;
- case monitoring for children in state custody.
- bilingual counselors assist in Amharic, Arabic, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Burmese, Dinka and other Sudanese dialects, Kurdish, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese
- assistance in finding an affordable medical home
- follow-through with callers until the problem is solved
Providers, community agencies, and elected officials all need assistance in solving complex healthcare problems.
We are able to help by:
- screening for healthcare programs with our callers: CoverRx, CoverKids, and AccessTN, Medicare, Social Security and TennCare Medicaid
- using our expertise in finding data inaccuracies that affect care and coverage;
- individualized application assistance for those with special needs, ranging from low literacy to urgent;
- finding community health centers and resources.
